Human Biospecimens
Ethically-sourced, Difficult-to-Find Fresh Tissue Samples
Simple, streamlined human tissue sample procurement—it’s possible with UA Biobank. Whether you need fully consented FFPE blocks with specific variant profiles, archived samples, or prospectively-collected diseased tissue over time with matched quad sets, we’ll handle the procurement gymnastics to get your biospecimens delivered.
Because we have access to complete electronic medical records, we can select and annotate samples based on your needs.
Fresh Tissue
UA Biobank’s extensive network provides access to high quality fresh tissue samples, offering sample and patient diversity that much of today’s research requires.
Let our specimen experts help determine the feasibility of your fresh tissue request while also exploring reliable alternatives to help keep your research on track.
Across our entire network, tissue samples are collected under IRB-approved protocols with processes to help ensure consistency and quality. All samples are collected in full compliance with regulatory standards and best-practice guidelines.
Frozen Tissue
Having a reliable alternative to fresh tissue that closely mimics fresh surgical tissue but with added flexibility and immediate availability can help keep your research projects on track.
UA Biobank has access to a large stock of viable cryopreserved tissue (available within two weeks). Obtain frozen cancer tissue with adjacent tissue and associated biofluids. Suitable replacement for fresh tissue after thawing; universal range of applications Viable frozen tissues retain heterogeneity (contain cancer stem cells and TILs).
Formalin-Fixed Paraffin Embedded (FFPE) Tissue Blocks
Access a global repository of FFPE human tissue from diseased and healthy patients.
UA Biobank’s extensive provider network grants you access to high quality FFPE tissue blocks, reflecting the sample and patient diversity that modern medical research requires.
Across our entire network, FFPE tissue specimens are collected under IRB-approved protocols with processes to help ensure consistency and quality. All samples are collected in full compliance with regulatory standards and best-practice guidelines.
Request FFPE Blocks approved for research by waiver of consent. These tissue samples are extremely versatile and stimulate research in areas such as oncology, hematology and immunology, especially for replication, validation and immunohistochemical (IHC) testing.
